Nostradamus began to discover his prophetic abilities in All had to be written under a cloudy form, above all things prophetic His predictions “extend from now to the year “. Nostradamus first wrote his quatrains in plain Old French, and he included names and dates. Then he rewrote them in a complex code of acronyms, anagrams, apocopes, synechdoches, ellipses, hyperbations and metatheses, syncopes, aphereses, epentheses, metonyms, and other exotic grammars and syntaxes.
Nor did he wish to interfere with the fulfillment of his prophecies by stating them too clearly in advance. And, he had no desire to incur the wrath of the Holy Inquisition: However, judicial astrology is excepted from this judgment”. Shortly after the publication of The True Centuries, Nostradamus became famous as some of his prophecies found fulfillment in the death of King Henry II.
In the ensuing centuries, about half of his predictions have been fulfilled with acceptable and sometimes startling accuracy.

Explore the Local Wines of the Loire France is, of course, internationally famous for its excellent wines and a cycling tour in France would not be complete without sampling some of its best wines in the place that they were grown. But although French wine is popular in Britain, we generally only see a limited selection of wines compared to the vast number of local wines on offer within France itself. These local wines are not usually available in UK supermarkets for a number of reasons. Firstly, local appellations often do not produce wine in the volume necessary to be picked up by a national supermarket chain.
Secondly, supermarkets tend to opt for grape varieties and names which a large proportion of customers will be familiar with, and this of course simply perpetuates the situation. Seeking out specialist wine merchants is one option of course, but requires some degree of knowledge or confidence to know what to look for and, most importantly, what you like. Our cycling tours in France offer a chance to try out some of these local wines and expand your tastes.
To get you started and perhaps help you select a cycling tour that involves a visit to a wine region that interests you, here are some Loire Valley locations associated with some of the most popular local wines.
Suzanne painted by Renoir in Dance at Bougival, above left, and in Dance in the City, right These days, if an attractive model slept with a chain of A-listers, partied in all the fashionable hotspots and then became pregnant, we would know about her. If her child grew up to be a talented artist and a raging alcoholic who spent repeated spells in rehab, she would be on the front pages of all the newspapers.
This is the story of the French painter Suzanne Valadon. Yet for most of us today, she is completely unknown.

Having settled for a leisurely day we found time to read the camp site notices. One advertised a BBQ and musical evening while another advertised a walk through local vineyards both events on the Friday. Friday was supposed to be Chateau day, but another change of plan, we would do the walk and BBQ Friday and Chateau on Saturday that meant staying on for another two days. Who can resist full English? But I jump ahead. I am not sure I have ever been on a site with so many UK vans, many of whom stay for a month or more and also return year after year.
It is perhaps best to describe it as a campsite in France rather than a French campsite, but for all that it was lovely and we had a great time. The walk, about 7 miles took us through the surrounding countryside, vineyards and lanes. With Sarah who was leading passing on interesting local knowledge. With my almost non existent French I Only do nouns and most of those are types food!

Peter Paul Rubens was born in Siegen in Germany, but from the age of 10 he lived and went to school in Antwerp. His first job, at the age of 13, was as court page to a countess. It was a prestigious position for a young man, but Rubens found it stifling and began training as an artist.
WhatsApp Welcome, bienvenue, come in: If used for their intended purposes, these articles will surely eat slowly away at your soul until you actually read the books in question. Paul Verlaine, Anatole France, and Friedrich Nietzsche were all born in that year, although most likely to different parents. The book takes its name from an actual island in the Mediterranean between the island of Elba and the Italian coast.
It is a rocky island with little on it. The book is also the namesake of a famous brand of Cuban and Dominican cigars: As with Romeo e Julietas, the cigar gets its name, according to myth, from the men who used to roll the cigars in Cuba. To pass the time before earbuds and podcasts, books would be read to the rollers. And then they asked to hear it again, on and on into history. Second, why you should actually read this book: Nothing goes to waste in this book, not a description, not a word of dialogue.
